Murphy-Goode Wines.
Started by three friends in Sonoma County in 1985 over a game of Liar’s Dice, Murphy-Goode is all about a shared appreciation of friendship, a wicked sense of humor, and a good bottle of wine. Winemaker Dave Ready, Jr., the son of one of the winery’s founders, crafts exceptionally priced, incredibly tasty wines sourced from premier coastal vineyards. While he treats his wines with utmost importance, Dave doesn’t take himself too seriously. You can often find him blasting rock and roll in the cellar, playing Liar’s Dice, or rooting on the Vikings.

SHOP MURPHY-GOODEHow to Play Liar’s Dice.
Recreate the magic that started Murphy-Goode!
- Grab your dice, dice cups, Murphy-Goode wine, and gather your crew.
- Decide who goes first by rolling a die, flipping a coin, or initiating a thumb war. Whatever floats your deceitful boat.
- Everyone shakes the dice in their cups, then flip their cups over onto the table, and carefully peek at the numbers on their dice.
- The first player makes a claim about the total number of a specific face value they suspect is present among the dice. They can either state a legitimate claim or intentionally mislead their opponents. For instance, if they have four 3's, they might say, "There are three 3's under all our cups”.
- The next player either calls out the previous player by calling them a “liar” or they make a new claim that is either a higher quantity or a different face value. Whatever the player chooses to do, taking a sip of wine immediately after making their choice is a good sign of confidence and a great intimidation tactic.
- If a new claim is made, the next player continues the game. If called out, all players must reveal their dice. If the claim is true, the one who called out the claimer loses a die. If it was false or the number stated is higher than the actual number of dice, the claimer loses one. (But everyone still technically wins the round because they have wine.)
- Everyone re-shakes their dice, and the loser of the previous round starts the next round with a fresh claim.
- Everyone keeps shaking, claiming, and sipping until only one player has dice left—victory is theirs!
