Graham Weerts always knew he wanted to work in agriculture. He was raised in a farming family in Cape Town, South Africa, and drawn to the vines along the mountainsides of the Western Cape. He received a degree in Viticulture, Wine Science and Pomology at Elsenburg College, the first agricultural college of its kind in South Africa.
Graham worked for the iconic Mulderbosch Vineyards in Stellenbosch and was one of the first South Africans to work in Europe during harvest with Château de Terrefort-Quancard in Bordeaux. In 1999, he arrived in Sonoma County for a formative vintage at Vérité Winery, and returned in 2004 as head winemaker for Stonestreet Estate Vineyards.
More than 15 years later, Graham continues to apply his global perspective and expertise with high-elevation winegrowing to produce the wines at Stonestreet Estate Vineyards. He is also the winemaker for Capensis and oversees winemaking operations for Jackson Family wineries in Sonoma County.
