Dark blue fruits, heavy savory spice and mountain scrub provide a seductive nose. A small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, selected from a lighter block, brings bright red fruits and just enough tannins to bolster the gorgeous mountain Merlot. Blueberry, cherry, some dried herbs like sage and a forest floor like character, allspice and a hint of cinnamon. Silky smooth tannins that linger, all framed in balanced acid with just a hint of fine oak.
RECENT TASTING NOTES
This deeply extracted and spice driven Merlot farmed at just under 3,000 feet of elevation displays aromas of dark-chocolate-covered cherry, cinnamon and pepper. The palate gives flavors of ripe black plum, tobacco and rich minerality in a powerful tannic framework. Although the wine needs time to evolve, it will be excellent with hearty meat courses in time.
