Mt. Brave
Located at 1,800’ above Napa Valley on Mt. Veeder, Mt. Brave was founded in 2007 by the late Jess Jackson, who named the estate after the native Wappos or “the brave ones” who settled this steep, rugged terrain in the 1880s. Winemaker Chris Carpenter produces consistently high-scoring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, from the estate’s mountain fruit, all of which must be hand harvested. These wines express the essence of Mount Veeder: intense, concentrated, elegant, approachable and age worthy.

Mt. Veeder: Extreme Viticulture. Extreme Rewards.
Napa Valley’s most southerly mountain region, Mt. Veeder officially became an appellation in 1993. It sits just above Carneros, where it experiences cooling breezes from the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. Marine winds and extended sun exposure above fog line result in one of Napa Valley’s longest growing seasons. While much of Napa Valley features a combination of 30 different soils derived from volcanic activity, Mt. Veeder is mostly ancient seabed, with thin, rocky soils. Steep slopes of up to 30 degrees create challenging micro-climates and require all viticulture to be done by hand. The result: rich, intense, cellar-worthy wines but ready and hankering to be enjoyed today.
