Arrowood
Arrowood is 100% Sonoma. Located on the western slopes of the Mayacamas, the estate lies in the historic “Valley of the Moon” or Sonoma Valley, a small AVA that is well-suited to its signature wine, Cabernet Sauvignon. Arrowood's logo features three small triangles that represent the three Sonoma County AVAs from which the winery sources: Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and Sonoma Valley. In addition to its various Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings and its legendary Réserve Spéciale Cabernet Sauvignon program, Arrowood produces a red blend and limited quantities of Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay and Rosé.

Réserve Spéciale Cabernet Sauvignon
Arrowood aims to make Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects the diverse terroir of Sonoma County. Its Réserve Spéciale is the pinnacle of this effort. Made from the vintage’s top barrels, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine is aged in barrel for 24 months (compare that to the industry average of 16-18 months!), blended, then returned to barrel for an additional 6 months. The result? Well-integrated, smooth tannins that usher in flavors of cherries, currants, smoke, graphite, spicy tapenade, cocoa nib and espresso. Complex. Smooth. Age-worthy.
From Midwest to West Coast
You might be surprised to know that the Midwest has vineyards, but that is precisely where Arrowood winemaker Kristina Shideler got her start. During college, Kristina interned for a Missouri winemaker, who advised her to “taste everything, never stop learning, and never get bored.” She took that advice to heart and travelled the world, gaining experience with Bordeaux and international varieties in New Zealand, Portugal, Argentina and Sonoma County, as well as earning her Masters in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis. In 2015, Kristina was promoted to become Arrowood’s chief winemaker. When she’s not making wine, Kristina can be found running, traveling or cooking.
